It looks like a very productive session. Thank you for posting this, it is always good to see how CensusAtSchool is run in other countries. I only wish we could get an MP, especially a Minister of Statistics, to visit a session in a UK school.

I too had a ‘census day’ at school with my Year 5/6 class. We had just come back from 3 days at camp so it was a nice way to ease our brains back into action. The children really enjoyed the activities which we completed either as a class for some & as group stations for others. They became better at measuring each other as they progressed from one station to the next. We then entered the data on the computer in our ICT time. This has been a great way to extend our Statistics unit from last term as well as give the children an insight into the reasons why data is collected. Thanks for organising this event.

I set up stations around the classroom using the information and pictures provided in the teachers pack. All my classes from years 10 to year 13 took part in the census. The experiences and ideas the boys gained will be a valuable addition to their toolbox of resources when it comes to writing the internal assessments. The senior boys enjoyed the experience just as much as the juniors. – It was a very relaxing day for me as well once everything was set up. Thank you to everyone involved in the organisation of this event.

It was made even more special having the Hon. Minister Maurice Williamson sharing the moment with us. Students get to experience every step of the PPDAC enquiry cycle, and it really helps them ask questions about the validity and accuracy of data in later years. All my classes, from year 9 to year 13 took part, and they all gained knowledge from the experience. Many thanks to Census at School!
